jpg Jason LoveJason Love - So It Goes: Dogs Are People Too - My mom has a poodle named Max. Mad Max. She pampers him in a way that I don't recall being pampered as a child. The dog eats off her plate, sleeps in her bed, and advises her on life decisions.

When my mom leaves home, she turns on the television to comfort the dog. You've done that? Have you checked the TV Guide beforehand? - More...

jpg Bob CiminelBob Ciminel - Fish or Cut Bait: Notes from Slightly South of North Georgia - It was another beautiful autumn weekend on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. We made history this weekend. Well, at least we made local history. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution might not find it that remarkable. We ran our train (two engines and six passenger cars) south from Blue Ridge, Georgia to the tiny community of Cherry Log. It was the first passenger train to stop at Cherry Log in over 60 years. Even back then, Cherry Log was only a flag stop. It had a passenger shelter, but trains would only stop if passengers needed to board or disembark. However, unlike those trains of old, we came to Cherry Log with 200 passengers and they were all getting off. - More...

photosA Legendary Mountain of Jade; Just one of Alaska's Arctic Wonders - Alaska is a state of superlatives. It is the nation's largest state. We drive past or fly over  America's highest mountain. We can visit the nation's deepest cave on Prince of Wales Island, admire the waters of our state's longest coastline and enjoy the  midnight sun's longest days. Most of us, however, will never see our superlative example of the Alaska State Gem - jade. That's because Jade Mountain, an entire mountain made of beautiful dark green jade, is far from any Alaska road system. - More...
