Alaska: Murkowski's Administration Ready to Negotiate with Unions - Governor Frank Murkowski said his administration is ready to begin negotiations with the 12 labor unions that represent state employees. Most state employees are currently covered by one-year contracts that increased the state's contribution to employees' health insurance costs and extended the terms of previous contracts. Alaska: NOAA Fisheries Releases Draft Document on Groundfish Management; Comments Accepted Online - Today, NOAA Fisheries is releasing a draft document that will guide future management of groundfish fisheries in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea, the largest fisheries in U.S. waters. Officials are seeking public comment on the revised Draft Alaska Groundfish Fisheries Programmatic Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (PSEIS).
