If you've never been through our exhibits here at the Discovery Center, or even if you have, and want to gain some new insights into our displays, then this program is for you. Merle Hawkins, a Haida Native and Tribal Council Vice President of KIC, has worked with us for the past 9 seasons. Join her as she guides you through the Center, and relates her expansive cultural and traditional knowledge.

Get Ready for Spring with a Velvet-embossed scarf! Instructor Faith L. Duncan will provide luxurious velvet and stamps for participants of all skill levels to create an easily made gift. Author and therapist Sharone Maldaver of Whitehorse, Yukon will do a presentation on her book "Menopower: A Loving Guide to Your Menopause Years and Beyond" at 7:00pm, March 15th at the Ketchikan Public Library. Refreshments will be served. Call 225-3331 for more information.

Long-time Alaskan author, Arnold Griese will discuss his newest book, Bush Pilot, which is an in-depth study of early aviation in Alaska, focusing on the exploits of Harold Gillam, Sr., one of the many colorful characters of pioneer aviation days. Griese will speak at the Ted Ferry Civic Center on Wednesday, March 15th, at 7:00 pm on the life of legendary bush pilot Harold Gillam and his 1943 crash near Ketchikan. This presentation is one of a series of free historical programs presented by the Tongass Historical Society. For more information, contact the Tongass Historical Museum.
