Author Sharone Maldaver will give a presentation on her book "Menopower: A loving guide to your menopause years and beyond", at the Ketchikan Public Library on Monday, March 13th at 7pm. She will also be available for book signing.

"Menopause is not a disease; it is a powerful time of women's lives. The same is true for men and male menopause: andropause. There is lots of information in Menopower for men too," said Maldaver.

Maldaver defines "Menopause" as the empowering feeling that women get when they accept and love themselves as they age and go through the constant ups and downs of their lives doing the best they can to take care of themselves and to keep joy in their hearts while spreading peace and love around to others as they do whatever they can to improve life on Planet Earth."

Maldaver has travelled around Canada, the USA, and Mexico over the past 20 years selling crafts from Mexican women, and facilitating circles focusing on talking and sharing; understanding ourselves and each other better and creating peace in our communities.

For the past twelve years, she has been a menopause counsellor and consultant. Maldaver has facilitated menopause workshops and circles in many communities of Canada: in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia, as well as in Mexico. In September 2004, she published the book Menopower.

Sharone Maldaver said, "I wrote this fast-reading guide because I was too depressed to read a lot when I was menopausal." She said, "This book is full of knowledge and love that I have received over the past twenty years as a menopausal woman and menopause counsellor."

For the past few years, she has enjoyed becoming an actor, storyteller and stand-up comic. Whitehorse, Yukon, is now her home.

What Others Say About Menopower

" The 62-year-old woman is constantly spreading around the positive energy she harnessed in those confusing but enlightening years.... Her book includes all those nuggets of wisdom that helped her dig out of her own depression and is reinforced by what she learned helping other women as a menopause counsellor for ten years.... And, there is sex after menopause."
- The Yukon News, September 2004

" Wonderful ! Thank you so much for this huge endeavor. I'm 47, menopausal, have been going through it for quite a few years and I've done a ton of research. This is the most succinct, comprehensive source of information that I have seen. I love how you have pulled together so many sources to just make a "cut to the chase, this is it" kind of book."
- Candace, Vancouver BC

"I enjoyed your book soooo much. It is so informative. I passed it on to two of my friends, but I had to fight to get it back. I told them, 'Go get your own darn book!'"
