"Why not me?"
By Brenda Bratley

From a mother who has two children in the Marines, my son and my daughter, I thank you Mr. Bolling, Marie and others who responded in the positive to Mr. Bollings' viewpoint.

I think my son said it the most simply to me one day when I asked him "Why you? Why do you want to join the Marines?". His reply was, "Why not me? If not for all the others before me who made the same choice I have, we might not be sitting here able to have this conversation, saying what we want, when we want".

My son leaves to go over there in two weeks and let me tell you, you have no idea how much of a difference it makes to hear positive, supportive and even thankful, comments.

Thank you again, and please keep all of our sons, daughters, husbands, fathers, moms, cousins and friends that are in our military in your prayers.
