The opening statements made by the candidates at the Charter Commission Candidate Forum Wednesday evening are available for viewing as QuickTime movies. The forum was sponsored by the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce and was moderated by Jeff Seifert of KRBD.

Nominating Petitions for Charter Commission Must Be Filed By Nov. 14th

Ketchikan, Alaska - A special election is scheduled for January 13, 2004, to elect members to the Charter Commission.

The Charter Commission has seven members: three filled by citizens residing within the boundaries of the City of Ketchikan, three filled by citizens residing within the boundaries of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough but outside the City of Ketchikan, and one filled by a citizen from the Ketchikan Gateway Borough at-large. Commission candidates must be nominated by a petition signed by at least 50 voters.

The nominating petitions must be filed with the Borough Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on November 14, 2003.

Nominating petitions for the Charter Commission are available in the Borough Clerk's Office at 344 Front Street and on the Borough's website at www.borough.ketchikan.ak.us
