Decades Old Mural Repainted by Original Artist
By Louise Brinck Harrington

April 28, 2005

Ketchikan, Alaska - A big bash will be held soon at the Arctic Bar to celebrate completion of a mural by Lawrence "Snapper" Carson.

Actually, this isn't the first time Snapper completed the mural... it was completed once before back in 1969.

Back then Snapper's hand wasn't as steady as it is now. Back then he'd have a few drinks, start painting and work into the night. "The mural showed it too," Snapper says, laughing.

This time he straightened things up. He drank coffee and painted in the mornings - before the bar even opened.

Snapper emphasizes that everything in the mural is fictional... use your imagination!
