(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - My teacher Kevin Clevenger is the focus of Louie's Blog this week. Being humble and with pride, he did not want me to write about him in Louie's Blog.

Born in Ketchikan and raised in Metlakatla, Kevin has a big family with five children.

Fom the Tsimshian Nation and of the Raven Clan, Kevin and his girlfriend Natasha Kapralov lead a Tsimshian dance group. The group sings and dances a mixture of contemporary and traditional songs. Kevin isan apprentice carver and learned to carve under Uncle Wayne Hewson, who is a master carver. Kevin is also learning the language of the Tsimshian people, Shmalgyax. His teacher is Terri Burr.

Kevin served ten years in the U.S. Army and is a combat veteran and I thank him for his service.

He has been working for the local school for over 10 years. He is a good teacher and helps me in my school day.

First thing in the morning he takes me swimming, choir, gym, and to the Landing where I work. Kevin is also learning to play piano to help me with piano lessons.

Kevin is always busy from building campfires on field-trips for us with wood and wood chips from carvings to coaching Dribblers League basketball.

He is a good role model.
