Jai Mahtani
Candidate for Ketchikan City Council 2021

I Jai Mahtani am running for city council seat.I am running as this is a critical juncture in our city like never before we need to hire department heads across the board we need to be transparent need to have a fresh prospective on the budget and the economy these are the challenges we face.

I come on board with 30 plus years of business experience.

I have a business degree and a minor in finance management from ornellas diocese.

I have been in tourisim business since 1986 and in Ketchikan for 26 years, a board member of the Ketchikan visitors bureau, a board member at the KRBD radio station and serve on many important committees.

The several challenges we at the city face:

Our budget needs to be assigned post covid by the council to the management and they need to make the allocations not the other way around.

We need to work with our cruise ship partners to solidify our downtown economy our partner cruise line ships need to stay down town we need to work with them to extend our docks but not to give away or hand over any sort of control of our port to any one

We need to develop another complementary economy so we have diversity and not face what we faced during covid.

The most critical issue we have is to hire a new city manager and almost all department heads.

We have to make sure we don’t make the same old mistakes and take the good and hire leaders that will manage the city for decades.

I bring a business prospective a fresh face.

Seek your support this October.
