My name is Dani Pratt. I’m an intensive one-on-one paraprofessional at Schoenbar, an avid participant in First City Players’ productions, one of the ever-growing population of seasonals-to-locals, and a lover of Ketchikan.

I believe in transparency. With me, what you see is what you get. I don’t look at this position as a political stepping stone, and I’m not going to throw a bunch of numbers at you to confuse you; I look at this position as a way to form a deeper lasting connection with my neighbors and the place I have chosen as my home. I am ready to listen and learn and do my part to better this amazing community.

The initial spark that led to my campaign for Borough Assembly was the ongoing negotiations between our School Board and our incredible teachers. Those flames have been fanned by the state of our roads, our unfair housing market, and our increasing homeless population.

If elected as a Borough Assembly member, I intend to support and advocate for the aspects of this borough that made me fall in love and choose to make my home here: the students, the arts, the history, the environment, and above all, the people that live and work here everyday who collaborate and support one another across all social, economic, and political platforms.

As I’ve said at every candidate event thus far, my campaign is based on a platform of listening. I am not too proud to admit that I don’t know everything, and it’s time for local representatives to stop talking AT everyone and start to actually listen and collaborate with the people who make up this incredible population. I am an active and enthusiastic listener. I want to hear your thoughts, your hopes, your concerns, your advice, your expertise, your perspective, and your story.

I work in the schools, I play in the arts, I stand for the people of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough, and I would be deeply honored to be elected as a member of your Borough Assembly.”
