About a month and a half ago, we mailed a wedding gift to some family friends down South. Today I opened a nice Thank You note from the newlyweds. It was beautifully written, but it was not for the gift we gave! We had sent an expensive assortment of cheeses, ceramics, and gift-pack of smoked salmon filets, reflecting Alaska's fishing heritage. We had taken the wrapped gift to be professionally packaged and sent from a mailing station, with our card included. I don't know how they could have made a mistake, because even though the card was not inside the gift box, it was inside the mailed "package". We don't want to be rude or tacky, but we were wondering if we should let the couple know what happened, or just drop the whole thing? FAMILY FRIENDS FROM HOME
DEAR FFFH, It depends. Which gift was
better?
