Ketchikan Charter Commission Forum Tuesday
Example is; an ordinance that prevents any employee of either of the local governing bodies from holding an elected seat of that body. If the Charter commission puts together a one government package will it put this same lesser right on any employee of the one government or will you allow the voters to decide if conflict is an issue. I am of the mind; the people are smart enough to make their own choices when voting without the potential candidates being stone walled by ordinance. A twenty plus year resident may have views on water, power, education, recreation and a true best interest of his or her community no matter where they work. A person who lives here for 6 months has more value than many folk who raised families here, in those chambers. Apathy is ordained. Ken Lewis
