Celebration of the Sea Art Walk, simultaneous openings and receptions in local downtown galleries, from 5 - 8pm on Friday, May 5th. For more information contact the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council at 225-2211.

Opening Reception for Pedagogued, a show by UAS art students, on May 5th from 5-8pm at the Mainstay Gallery. Art students and teachers from the UAS Ketchikan Campus will be showing work from their classes. Exhibit will be on through May 26th. The Mainstay is sponsored by the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council, call for more info 225-2211.

Our Town: The Life and Times of Ketchikan opens May 5, 2006 with a reception from 5-8pm at the Tongass Historical Museum. This exhibit will be on display through September 30, 2006. Call the museum for more information, 225-5600.

Ketchikan Community Concert Band presents their spring concert featuring Man in the Ice by Otto M. Schwarz, on Friday, May 5th at 7:30pm in the Kayhi Auditorium. Tickets at McPherson Music, the Arts Council, from band members or at the door. $5 for adults, $1 for kids under 18. For more info call McPherson Music at 225-3650.

Saturday Market is a Celebration of the Sea on May 6th from 9am - 3pm. This market is themed as a Marine Swap, bring your old stuff and swap it for "new" stuff. Also featured will be a "Beach Comber's Show" to highlight the cool stuff you have found on our shores. Turn in your entry by Monday, May 1st to the plaza. For booth information call 225-7000.

Mother's Day Quilt Raffle: Buy a raffle ticket to win a handcrafted quilt made by Jeanne Sande to benefit Women in Safe Homes, only $10.00. The drawing will be held May 12th, need not be present to win. Tickets available from the Visitor's Bureau, Rainforest Crafts, Silver Basin and WISH.

Ketchikan Theatre Ballet presents KTB Corral, their Spring Gala performance, on May 12th, and 13th, 2006. This performance features dancers from all classes, including the graduating seniors. The show starts at 7:30pm on the 12th and 13th, and 2pm for the younger dancer's performance on March 13th. All shows will be at the Kayhi Auditorium and tickets are available from the Arts Council, KTB studios, Seaside Trading, McPherson Music and at the door. Call 225-9311 for more information.

Sweet Second Saturdays dance and dessert, last one of the season on Saturday, May 13th at 7:00pm at the Crow's Nest. Live music and caller provided, no experience necessary. $5 at the door. Fun for the whole family.

Monthly Grind, Saturday, May 20th, 7pm at the Saxman Tribal house. The last show of the season will feature many local bands, as well as other live local talent, dessert and coffee, all for just $5 per adult, and $1 for kids. Buy a ticket, bring a homemade dessert and get a refund.
