Ketchikan Cab Driver Arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - The Ketchikan Police Department announced today that after receiving a complaint of illegal drugs being sold by Ketchikan cab drivers while they were working, investigators from the Drug Unit initiated an investigation.

During the course of that investigation, undercover officers obtained suspected marijuana on two occasions from 28-year old Richard V. Wetherill of Ketchikan while he was operating his taxicab on Mission Street and Main Street.

On the second occasion, Wetherill was arrested on December 20th. As a result of that arrest, investigators also obtained a search warrant for 832 Buren Road B.

An additional seventeen suspected marijuana plants were seized from that Buren Road residence.

Wetherill was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center and booked on two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree and held on a $500 bond.
