Open Letter: DREAM Act
By Byron Whitesides

December 20, 2010
Monday

Dear Senator Murkowski, Senator Begich.

It is reprehensible that the Senate leadership wants to force the DREAM Act amnesty on the American people during a jobs depression.  Not only is Sen. Reid ignoring the 9.8 percent unemployment rate, he is asking you to risk your own political neck in the process!

Please don’t pay attention to anyone who says the DREAM Act amnesty will only help innocent "children" who are the victims of their parents' lawbreaking. The DREAM Act is not a narrow amnesty aimed only at children; it would amnesty any illegal alien under the age of 30!

The DREAM Act is not a small amnesty for a select group of individuals. In fact, it allows illegal "teens" (i.e., anyone under 30) to petition for their parents, leading eventually to their aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins coming permanently to the United States.

The big argument for this amnesty is that it is for teenagers who are here illegally because their parents broke the law. Even with the less-than-30 age requirement, this amnesty will apply to more than just teens ("humanitarian" and "family unity" exceptions are added to the age limit). Nonetheless, the argument is that the teenagers should not be punished for the crimes of their parents.

However, DREAM amnesty citizens can all eventually bring their parents, who broke the law to get them into the country in the first place, back into the U.S. (or, keep them here legally after years of avoiding deportation). The chief criminals will be rewarded after all. And due to chain migration, the amnestied "teens" can petition for their aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents to get permanent U.S. residency as well.

This a back-door amnesty for the parents of these illegal "teens," and a chain migration nightmare for the country.  I hope you will take the November 2nd election results to heart and observe the will of the American people on this issue.  Just say no to Sen. Reid and just say no to this anti-American worker amnesty.

Here are a few points you need to consider BEFORE voting on this bill!

•THE BORDER IS STILL NOT SECURED!
•THE ADMINISTRATION IS CONTEMPTUOUS OF OUR LAWS AND REFUSES TO ENFORCE OUR LAWS!
•OUR ADMINISTRATION IS SUING ARIZONA FOR ATTEMPTING TO PROTECT THEIR CITIZENS FROM THIS INVASION AND CRIME WAVE!
•OUR CITIZENS IN ARIZONA CAN'T RECREATE IN THEIR AREA BECAUSE DRUG RUNNERS AND FOREIGN CRIMINALS HAVE MADE THE AREA UNSAFE!  THE RESPONSE FROM OUR GOVERNMENT WAS TO PUT UP SIGNS WARNING AMERICANS TO STAY OUT OF THIS AREA WHICH IS EIGHTY MILES INSIDE OUR BORDER!!!
•TWENTY MILLION AMERICANS ARE OUT OF WORK!
• OUR COUNTRY IS NEAR BANKRUPT!
• YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS AND NOW ANOTHER AMNESTY IS BEING PUSHED????

NO AMNESTY, NO DREAM ACT, NO REWARD FOR BAD BEHAVIOR OF ANY KIND!

SECURE THE BORDER AND ENFORCE OUR LAWS, THIS IS WHAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE CONVEYED TO YOU OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  THE PROBLEMS LISTED ABOVE MUST BE RESOLVED BEFORE WE EVEN TALK OF HOW TO RESOLVE ANY OF THE ILLEGAL MIGRATION PROBLEMS!

NO AMNESTY OF ANY KIND, AND NO ACTION UNTIL THE ABOVE LISTED PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN CONFRONTED AND SUCCESSFULLY RESOLVED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!

YOU ARE OUR REPRESENTATIVE, NOT OUR RULERS, REPRESENT THE WISHES OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NOW!

Sincerely,
Byron Whitesides
