Dog Park
By Jeremy Reed

I have two Golden Retrievers and anyone who lives in Ketchikan knows how hard it is to find a place that accepts dogs, especially dogs of a large breed.

I live in a two bed one bath apt. hardly big enough for two goldens to get the proper amount of exercise. Now here's my problem and I'm sure dog owners in Ketchikan have the same one, There is NOWHERE that you can take your friendly pets and let them run around off leash without the risk of getting in trouble. I have heard rumors of people starting a petition for a dog park but I don't know if the plans have made any progress or where I need to go to make this happen. I hate having my dogs couped up inside the house all day because there is nowhere to take them. Don't get me wrong though, I make sure they get out and get to run around, and play to their hearts content. It just would be nice to have an actual dog park around here.
