While you're talking about trees...

I have read many letters concerning the placement of the town Christmas tree. This really has nothing to do with that, as I no longer live in Ketchikan, so I do not know the current location of the Christmas tree, as opposed to where it should be.

However, I always thought the tree next to the pink Federal Building would make a wonderful town Christmas tree. Instead of cutting one down every year, and placing it on the dock, maybe a Tree/Whale Park lighting ceremony could be held in the parking lot. It has a through-way for Santa (if he still arrives on the Fire Truck), and it is on the main road for all to see. I don't know what the Federal/City technicalities would be, but it's just a thought...It's such a lovely tree.
