Ketchikan Marine Education Committee Annual Meeting Set

Ketchikan, Alaska - The Annual Meeting for the Ketchikan Marine Education Committee (KMEC) is scheduled for Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 5:30pm at the UAS Ketchikan Technical Center, 600 Stedman.

KMEC is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of promoting and facilitating maritime education in secondary and post secondary schools in the Ketchikan area.

The KMEC will be electing a board of directors at the general meeting. Membership to KMEC as well as board candidacy is open to all interested persons. Anyone interested or concerned about maritime education in the Ketchikan area is encouraged to attend and become a participating member.

The group was originally formed to ensure the training vessel Jack Cotant was kept for maritime education use in Ketchikan. The committee sometimes acts as an advisory board for the UAS maritime program and the Ketchikan High School maritime program.
