Editor Sitnews,

I trust that you have read the article in the Ketchikan Daily News recently regarding the new U.S.Coast Guard recovery search and rescue boats that cost by their numbers, $2 million each. Now I ask you, take a look at this used Cat boat and if you recall some of the details on the USCG boats square those to this rig with the asking price. How can there be way over $1.1/5 million difference in performance, equipment, and such even this being a "used" example. http://olympic.craigslist.org/bod/4755548280.html

Second. The U.S.Navy spent some $58 million on the Susitna ferry sitting at Ward Cove. This is not a swipe at the local ship yard, only if that cost is not exaggerated, the final question I pose is: Using the cost on the Susitna and these two USCG boats to scale, how in the hell is the State of Alaska going to build TWO ferries of larger size for $60 million each?

Sheeeeeee! Do - I sense huge contract override issues?

Just asking.
