Vote for Dan Ortiz

I'm voting for Dan Ortiz for State House because I know that Dan will be a tireless and effective advocate for Ketchikan and the communities of Southern Southeast. Whether it be for increased school funding, improvements to the ferry system, or capital and infrastructure projects Dan is going to be in there punching.

As a member of the school board in the mid 90's, I knew Dan Ortiz from his frequent appearances at board meetings. What was remarkable about Dan was his persistence. He is an articulate speaker whose reasoning is well thought out in advance, and over the years the school board, borough assembly and city council have listened.

Dan fought for funding student activities such as track and debate. He could be counted on to lead parents and colleagues to contact our state representatives in support of school funding. He vigorously pushed for the Rec Center and the running track at Fawn Mountain. During my time on the City Council he was a frequent advocate for improved water quality and a new library.

A long-time teacher of civics, Dan knows how government works. A parent and long-time member of our community, Dan knows what is important to Ketchikan and the towns and villages in southern southeast. Dan s persistent, reasoned advocacy will serve us well in the State House.

I support Dan Ortiz and urge you to do the same.
