Prescription Drug Disposal Program Ongoing

November 07, 2010
Sunday PM

Ketchikan, Alaska - In April 2010, the Ketchikan Police Department began a Prescription Drug Disposal Program. Any no longer needed or expired prescription drugs can be turned in to the police department where they will be safely and legally disposed of. Flushing medications down the toilet is discouraged in Alaska.

Since the program began, the Ketchikan Police Department has collected thousands of pills.

The program, described as highly successful, is ongoing and the Ketchikan Police Department would like to remind and encourage the community to continue to participate.

If you have any questions, call the Police Department at 225-6631.
