Open Letter: New fence at the South Tongass Fire Station
By Scott Cragun

To whom it may concern:

I received [the STVFD] letter regarding the proposed new fence at the South Tongass Fire Station and I have a few questions or comments that I would like to have answered or addressed.

1. Who commented on the need for this fence, was it the 2 residents behind the fire station or the residents of the fire station?

2. Your map is not clear with relationship to the actual location of the fence with regards to the fire station, can this be better represented?

3. Is this fence absolutely necessary? Or would tax payer monies be better spent to improve the road in front of the fire station so that it is passable by small vehicles? In its current condition the road is worse than it has ever been prior to the construction of the new fire station which is due to inadequate site drainage of the fire station building site as well as lack of proper drainage of the roadway. (Who was responsible for the design of the site drainage?)

4. If I chose to build an 8’ fence on my property will I be allowed to do so?

You say that this fence is being considered based on comments received, how about the improvements to Roosevelt Drive in front of the fire station, I know that you have received more comments regarding the road than any possible fence.

I look forward to your reply,

Thank You
