Raw Fish Tax
By Kevin Kristovich

Tuesday PM

To all Ketchikan commercial fishermen and local harbor users. Show your support to see that the Ketchikan City Council returns the recent funds stripped from the harbor department that were actually voted in by the council in December of 2008 to be held in trust by the harbor department for future harbor improvement and developments.

We, as commercial fishermen pay into this raw fish tax and would like to see our harbors upgraded with better facilities and amenities for all harbor user groups. There is a December 6th City Council meeting and the raw fish tax issue is going to be on the agenda. You as citizens and concerned community members owe it to yourself and others by showing up and speaking on this matter of great importance. The city collects a head tax from tourism that is earmarked for port development and tourism enhancement. The head tax money does not go towards any harbor improvements whatsoever.

Please attend the next scheduled meeting and make your voice and opinion heard.

Regards,
