Gas Price Gouging
By Jerilyn Lester

This is the first time in my 25 year history in Southern Southeast that I have been ashamed. The people that own the gas storage and the stations are keeping the price up so that we go broke just trying to get to work two jobs just to pay for the gas to do so and the oil to heat our homes. The price of oil has gone down to between $40 and $50 a barrel and we are still paying $3.75 a gallon for gas and more than that to heat the house.

It is the first time that I can remember since being here that it is cheaper to have an electric heater in my house than it is the propane forced air heater. I do understand when the prices went up because the price of gas goes up and the oil is selling for over $100 a barrel but now that the price is down, the station owners are just PLAIN GREEDY and since we as the public can't get the permitting to own and store gasoline on our property they hold us hostage.

I am absolutely positive that it isn't costing anywhere near $3.75 a gallon to get the gas up here and I am also sure that the Borough doesn't pay that for the buses or any of the City's equipment. But we are paying for the fact that they get a discount and there is nothing we can do and nothing the Witch in Wasilla is going to do about it because she doesn't like much less care what happens down here.

Just ask her the last time she was here and how much money she is making in per diem to live in her own house? You do know that she is charging us to live in her house and there isn't a single legislator who has the guts to call her on it or stop her from collecting it, you do know that don't you?
