Senior Citizen & Disabled Veteran Property Tax
Exemption Forms Mailed Today

Ketchikan, AK - Senior Citizen and Disabled Veteran property tax exemption application forms will be mailed today - November 21. Qualified applicants include senior citizens who turn 65 on or before January 1, 2004; widows or widowers age 60 - 64 of previously qualified applicants; and veterans with a documented, 50% or more, service related disability.

The living unit eligible for exemption must be occupied as the principle residence as of January 1, 2004. Applicants must qualify for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend program. Qualifying properties are eligible for exemption of up to $150,000 of assessed value.

Completed and signed forms must be returned to the Main Borough office at 344 Front street or the Assessment Department at 1111 Stedman Street. To ensure timely processing, the Department requests that the completed forms be returned as soon as possible.
