Anchorage - In recognition of excellence providing faith-based community service and community volunteerism, Lieutenant Governor Loren Leman on Wednesday unveiled the Stars of Gold Award program. Winners are selected from nominations in eight categories: youth, adult, senior, family, group, corporate, media and small business.

"Through commitment to service and demonstration of citizenship, volunteers give their time and talent to help solve social challenges and build stronger families and communities. The Stars of Gold Award is our way of saying thank you," said Leman in Wednesday's Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (FBCI) Task Force meeting.

Nominations are due by January 30, 2004. To view nomination forms and guidelines, visit the FBCI website at http://ltgov.state.ak.us/fbci/
