RE: Open Letter to the NFL players

The pushing of the false narrative that the NFL players are protesting the flag, the anthem, or the American military brings into question the motives of any individual doing so.

One individual player, not dishonoring the flag, but instead using its power to bring attention to institutionalized attitude of a militarized police which has in some instances resulted in obvious murderers being acquitted has been blackballed. A few players felt compelled to continue to try to illuminate the issue by continuing the effort, in a peaceful way, supported by the Constitution of the United States. A public servant, who recently swore to uphold that document, spoke against the men, threatened them with job termination illegally, and further abused his position.

So virtually all the players - including veterans, even active reservists - displayed solidarity against the unconstitutional remarks about the firing of their teammates and fellow union members.

The founding fathers including Jefferson remarked that the great danger to democracy would be an uneducated populace. Ignorance begets fear, and fearful people are easily manipulated.

Let us be wary of deflection, projection, attacks against a free press, the fear mongering against ethnic groups and races whatever quarter it comes from or however subtle it might be. Stem your fears, seek education, review sources and reflect, and then and only then carefully construct a thought of your own to be broadcast locally.
