Vote Chere Klein November 4th

Dear Editor,

Candidate Dan Ortiz called Southeast Alaska, (District 36) a special place. He's right; it is a pretty place.

Economically, however, it's not so pretty. The gap between people who have government salaried and benefitted positions or government-funded, non-profit salaried and benefitted positions and people who don't is widening, and I'm curious to know what he's going to do about this problem. Everyone cannot work for the government.

People need jobs; renewable-resource and resource-extraction jobs that pay a living wage a person can support a family on in District 36. Not just seasonal tourism jobs. I'm not so sure Ortiz is pro-development.

While Ortiz may contend projects like Ucore or Big Thorne are more of a federal-level concern, District 36 needs to say, Hey, we're open for business! Come on in!

Chere Klein will say that.

Jobs improve the quality of people's lives, not welfare. That's why I'm voting for Chere Klein. Chere cares about all Alaskans, including the poor. She wants to help the poor by giving them a leg up, not just a hand out.

Please join with me and vote Chere Klein November 4th.

Sincerely

Kathleen Yarr
