SMS "Songs for your Supper"

What a beautiful group of young people were seen tonight / and not a few. They were all 'right in step' and hardly was any adult supervision seen nor needed - they just knew what to do and when and how, and did! All dressed up in their 'finery', happy to be a part of such a wonderful evening of sharing with the community their many talents and skills. From the opening of the SMS entrance doors to the final 'farewell, thank you for coming' it was an experience showcasing wonderful young teenagers.

These are the young people who will one day be leaders in our community and perhaps beyond. They were poised, not silly, in front of their 'peers' and the audience. Under the direction of Mary Kurtz they performed their music with 'sparkle' and clarity - following ever so closely her direction.

Mrs Kurtz is a role model that every parent can feel comfortable with, knowing their Middle School "teenie" is learning so much more than just how to sing and how to play an instrument.

And yes it took more than the music department (of one) to have this evening be successful! Schoenbar has a great supportive staff. They all understand the needs of these young people and how to help them (each one) be successful.

And besides all this THREE CHEERS to the chef (what a menu, impressive and delicious) / and Volunteers, volunteers, volunteers. The talents (and support) in our community just continue to grow.

Thank you SMS students, music department and all staff who gave us "Songs for your Supper".
