Serial FairTax propagandist David Boone's letter of Oct. 9 entitled – Bring Back “Made in America” presents many invalid claims.

He implies that the FairTax replaces the IRS – it does so immediately with a NEW IRS (i.e., the STAA) and would later bring back the old IRS. See “Myth FT Abolishes IRS” at bit.ly/1xqIOTQ and a similar concern raised by Cato Institute Senior fellow Dan Mitchell at bit.ly/1vNxnq3

The FairTax bill has been floundering around Congress since 1999 – NOT as he implies in the House Ways and Means Committee, where it was fairly well trashed in a 2011 hearing. Those “polite letters” likely informed them that the bill had to be “scored” to assure that it would be revenue neutral – it is being “scored” now and will likely FAIL miserably, as the Sponsor was apparently told once before.

Mr. Boone claims that they performed $23 million worth of "research", before submitting the bill in 1999. They have produced NONE of that "research" for our review – that money was spent on MARKETING. And even if they had performed true economic “research”, that could predict absolutely NOTHING.

All we need to do to bring jobs to the US is to GREATLY simplify our system, i.e., with my very Flat Income Tax, including the “territorial” tax system that only taxes income produced in this country.

We fight the FairTax because it is a TERRIBLE idea. We do NOT need the disastrous FairTax that redistributes more wealth, inflicts a 40-70% sales tax on us that would destroy our retail based economy, hits is with another 15% in hidden taxes, destroys our new home market and is a Trojan Horse for winding up with a NEW Income Tax IN ADDITION.
