Affordable Care Act

By Norm Noggle

Thursday AM

I am retired and currently receiving Medicare benefits. Prior to the Affordable Care Act I was paying $75 for 100 test strips for my diabetic condition. I now pay $8 thanks to this Act. I also recently underwent a very expensive (to me) colonoscopy and all but 20% of the pre-op visit was paid. I also benefited from the most through physical exam of my life by my Primary Health Care Provider, Lani Hill; again at no cost to me, because of the benefit of ObamaCare.

Due to this Act, more people will be able to access appropriate medical care and be able to address medical issues prior to needing emergency care services, which we in large part end up covering by increased insurance premiums. Also, no more worrying while recovering from a major illness if the insurance company is going to drop you because you have reached your maximum coverage levels and if they do, who is going to cover a pre-existing condition.

This Act begins to address my strong belief that everyone deserves appropriate medical care regardless of their socioeconomic situation.

So, let's not let Politians who receive contributions from the Insurance and pharmaceutical industries take away a right that they surely wouldn't take away from themselves.

Sincerely,
