By James Schenk

I lost a wonderful friend last night, Ketchikan lost a great person. I wish to thank all from South Tongass Fire department for their valiant efforts and the wonderful people of the ER department of PeaceHealth Hospital. God Bless all of you, we as a community are truly blessed to have all of you including the nurses who travel here to work in our little town.

My friend and neighbor Palmer Risland passed away last night. I'm sure he and his Brother Swede, are laughing and telling great stories to all in Heaven, about our great little town.

I will miss the wonderful conversations and laughter I shared with Palmer and carry his memory until I see him again.

Thank you Ketchikan for enriching my life with all the wonderful characters that I have had the pleasure of knowing.

May God Bless and keep safe all the characters who still enrich my life and others, Ketchikan's true wealth has always been its great people!

Goodbye Palmer. I will miss You!
