Crossing Guards Extraordinaire
By Chris Elliott

Those of us who work in the downtown area spend a lot of time during the cruise season stopping at the direction of the crossing guards so tourists can cross the street.

To make this interruption a pleasant experience, I suggest that our crossing guards be required to wear bermuda shorts (khaki), white shirts, red rubber boots and pith helmets and learn how to stop & start traffic and stop & start pedestrians as they do in the Bahamas. Those crossing guards put on quite a show, and it would lighten everyone's mood.
