(SitNews) - Juneau, Alaska - The Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) has announced the release of its 2012 summer schedule.

“We are thrilled to get our new summer schedule out on time so passengers can start booking either online or by phone immediately,” said Deputy Commissioner Mike Neussl. “We know how important it is for residents and visitors alike.”

The popular summer ferry schedule includes the new cross gulf trips from Bellingham to Whittier, includes a new schedule for the Upper Lynn Canal and continues to serve both Southcentral and some Southeastern routes with fast ferry service.

The schedule and online reservations are available on the AMHS website at www.ferryalaska.com.

“The AMHS website is filled with a wealth of information that provides travelers an easy option for booking their itinerary,” Neussl said.

Alaska’s marine highway is an essential transportation route that serves 33 island and coastal communities with a fleet of 11 vessels over 3,500 miles.
