By Chris Barry

Hi. I am running for School Board as a write in candidate. As a write in candidate, the voter must spell the name correctly and fill in the bubble. My name is Chris Barry.

I have lived in Ketchikan about four years. I am married to Joy and have two children; Jefferson is four and Lola is 2. We are currently expecting our third child. We just celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary at the Women of Distinction Dinner for WISH. I graduated in 1996 from Lake Roosevelt High School, Coulee Dam, WA with a 2.98 GPA. I worked for a while, then attended Boise State University where I received an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a GPA of 3.83.

I currently work for Elite Line Services as an equipment and facilities mechanic. I am an Eagle Scout and actively work with the Boy Scouts of America.

I am a supporter of Homeschooling, as we are planning on homeschooling our children. I am running for School Board for many reasons. Here are a few:

I am a supporter of families. As such, I want to eliminate sports and other school activities from taking place on Sundays.

As a homeschooling advocate, I hope to help Fast Track cater to the needs of our children.

I hope to break the mold of cramming our childrens' heads full of information designed to pass standardized tests, and instill in them instead a desire to learn.

Please vote October 6.
