Retaliation by Public Official
By Shelley Stallings

Regardless of whether I agree or disagree with Mr. Weinstein's comments about Governor Palin, the important issue here is whether any person or community should have to put up with retaliation by a public official.

I believe we should never allow an elected or non-elected public employee use their position to inflict pain or injury upon another person. To send a letter to Governor Palin stating that Mr. Weinstein's opinions are not those of all citizens in Ketchikan is both unnecessary and it promotes the idea that Governor Palin has the right to retaliate against our community. This practice needs to be stopped now.
