Power from Metlakatla
By Jim Dahl

I agree with Mr. Byland. We should persue every opportunity to get clean, green hydro power to Ketchikan. Mahoney Lake is good opportunity. The other "good" opportunity is Metlakatla Power and Light.

The leaders of Ketchikan and Metlakatla Indian Community are exploring the possibility of a connection from Annette Island to Mountain Point. I encourage the City Council and Metlakatla Council to initiate "leadership" in making the connection happen as soon as possible.

This is easy and it is close. I am not looking forward to an announcement from KPU that a "diesel surcharge" is about to show up on my monthly statements.

I like many other citizens are converting away from fossil fuel to clean hydro based electric use. We have reached the petro tipping point.

So, get it together folks.
