No Consolidation
By Don Hoff Jr.

Dear Debby Otte, I stand corrected. Annexation and Consolidation are two different things, but again but lead to the same thing. Borough residents with one government will be paying for services they will never in their life time receive. So again why would a Borough resident vote for consolidation is my question. If I live in the Borough I wouldn't vote for consolidation. It sounds good on paper and almost makes sense. With the growth of borough, people building houses or cabins in the rural, why would they pay for services like fire and police protection or water and sewer or electricity that they can't get nor afford for example.

Just because they have a consolidation committee and they are making attempts to brainwash residents in Ketchikan that one government is the best way. I say no way for the reason outlined above. Bigger government is what Ketchikan needs. Let's say you had one government and you have the same City Council today.... These folks are running you into the poor house. The electors voted down the Dock Expansion bond, still they are going forward, this same Council still want the proposed bridge to Gravina Island via Pennock Island regardless of the National Debt and Hurricane victims of Katrina and Rita. How much can you folks take?

It is not Democracy working in Ketchikan, Alaska is run by Dictators that want to line their pockets land speculation and old growth timber. They have their own private agenda and are paid hands and mouth pieces for people that got them elected is what I am saying. Consolidation and Annexation will not work because of the lay of the land.

Thank you for the correction and still in my own opinion that you should vote No on Consolidation and Annexation.
