RE: Upland Development
By Marty West

In a recent letter Sam Bergeron asked about development of "much needed uplands development (by) adding: public restrooms, phones and revised traffic".

Over ten and a half millions dollars in the recently voted down revenue bond election was for just such improvement- to relieve pedestrian and vehicle traffic congestion and to provide other amenities.
The Council did hear what the voters said at the ballot box. We also heard from people like Mr. Bergeron who were clear that they want better sidewalks and less congestion. This is why the city council recently voted to complete the contract for the design work to make these upland improvements.

I agree with Mr. Bergeron- doing nothing about much needed "uplands development" is not an option I prefer.
