Dear Editor:

We have been very impressed with the impacts that Senator Bert Stedman has had during his first year in the Alaska Senate. He truly understands the issues of southeast Alaska and has our interests at heart. Senator Stedman has developed great relationships with the Senate leadership and has garnered their respect as a resource for many financial questions that come before committees.

We are pleased that there is solid representation for business in Ketchikan and elsewhere in the state through Bert Stedman's dedication to small businesses. Senator Stedman is one legislator who has followed through on his promises to support Alaska small business. Sometimes he has had to make some tough legislative decisions, but his choices have been exemplary. Because of his legislative record he has earned a 100 percent voting record in 2004 for his representation of small business and has received the Guardian of Small Business award from the National Federation of Independent Business/Alaska. This is outstanding for a freshman legislator.

Senator Stedman looks out for the people of Ketchikan because he cares about our issues and has the skills to make good decisions. Please join us in voting on November 2 to keep Senator Bert Stedman in the State Senate representing our district. He is truly an asset for Ketchikan.
