Matt Eisenhower for School Board

By Austin Otos

Wednesday AM

In a time of crisis, strong leadership brings stability. With sexual misconduct, unfinished teacher contracts, and recalled public officials looming over Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District, I believe Matt Eisenhower brings stable leadership to the school board.

As a young person running for office, I’ve looked to individuals that have experience in their fields in order to acquire more knowledge about the subject. When I first reached out to Matt, he gave me good insight into how our local education system operates. This in-depth knowledge about the functioning of our public-school system has lead me to believe that the school board must be represented by people like Matt who have experience in public education.

As a current school board member, Matt has zealously advocated for securing education funding, resolving teacher contract negotiations, and defending school programs vital to our students. These important education issues coupled with quality traits such as level-headedness and positive optimism about our school’s future, are ingrained into Matt’s style of leadership.

Passion for public service is a standard, which we should grade our elected officials running for local office. I am honored to support a school board representative that isn’t politically partisan driven and above all, emphases a local education system responsive to parents, students, and teachers needs.

On October 2nd, our community has five school board candidates to choose from, and I strongly encourage voters to use one of their three votes for Matt Eisenhower.
