Labor Day Message

By Gov. Sean Parnell

September 02, 2013
Monday PM

While many have the day off, plenty of Alaskans will show up for work – cashiers, technicians, medical professionals and pipeline workers. Our public safety network – troopers, police officers, firefighters and EMTs, members of the Guard and other military service members – are all on the job, keeping Alaskans safe.

Whether you are working or enjoying the holiday weekend, we honor the individual efforts of Alaskans in the workplace; we are proud of our ‘Alaska tough’ workforce.

Alaska has some of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation, so if you, a neighbor, or family member are looking for work, be sure to check the State of Alaska’s website at jobs.alaska.gov. We’re working hard to increase employment opportunities for Alaska’s families.

Thank you for keeping Alaska’s workforce strong. Have a great Labor Day.

Governor Sean Parnell
Juneau, Alaska
