Bust Seizes $103,112 in Marijuana Buds, Two Arrested

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - Two Metlakatla men in possession of 4.5 pounds of marijuana buds were arrested Sunday evening at the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Terminal in Ketchikan. Arrested were Blaine Adam Hayward (age 22 of Metlakatla) and Matthew Swan Booth (age 25 of Metlakatla).

The Alaska Bureau of Investigation's Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) task force, with the assistance of the Ketchikan Police Department and the Alaska State Troopers Ketchikan Post, arrested Hayward and Booth for two counts each of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree. The investigation revealed the men to be in possession of 73 ounces or 4.5 pounds of marijuana buds.

According to a news release, the destination of the marijuana was Metlakatla. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana if sold in Metlakatla would be $103,112.

Hayward and Booth were remanded at the Ketchikan Correctional Facility without bail.
