One-quarter million dollars in drugs seized

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - Acting on information received from the Postal Inspector's Office in Anchorage that two pounds of marijuana had been mailed to an address in Ketchikan, Officers executed a search and seizure warrant at the Ketchikan residence located at 1234 Millar Street on Friday, September 17th.

Once inside the residence, Ketchikan Police Department investigators located approximately eighteen additional pounds of suspected marijuana and three pounds of suspected psilocybin (commonly known as mushrooms). The approximate street value of the combined marijuana is $227,000. The psilocybin has a street value of over $20,000.

Scales, packaging material, and a .45 cal handgun were also seized during the raid.

Warrants have been issued for a 33-year old male, Leon Beard of Ketchikan, and a 34-year old female, Toni M. Meredith of Ketchikan, for multiple counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the third, fourth, and fifth degrees.

Charges are only accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
