Bear Valley and Bears

I must say in the last 10 year I have seen and come across many black bears and they are very smart. They do not forget.

I hear my neighbors screaming out their doors and windows "kill the bears, I hate bears". And here comes the police with their rifles. WHY? Because you are in their neighborhood, I personally love seeing wildlife but I also remind my kids this is wildlife not a cute bear to cuddle with. Just like the eagles that fly above they are wonderful, but just last week I saw my neighbors kid with his BB gun trying to shoot the eagle while it soared above. The parents did not even care when I brought it to their attention.

I use bungee cords and they toss the cans like a volley ball and the can sometimes wins. Sometimes they just punch the lid in and the can looses. But I am willing to pick up the garbage. I live in Alaska and I would not change a thing except for one neighbor's understanding of wildlife and teaching their children to respect it as well.
