What's in a Name?
By Don Hoff Jr.

Hey Robert McRoberts, I don't know why they won't use my Indian name when I write my opinion letters. Sitnews usually uses my Indian name, Aan Kadax Tseen, which in Tlingit translates, "a happy man in a village." It was given to me by a leader named Albert Davis, Coho House/Raven who lived in Sitka, Alaska.

I have plans to consult a lawyer and legally change my given name, Don Hoff Jr. to Aan Kadax Tseen in the near future.

In this day and age of computers it doesn't really matter where I live from my Tribe. I am in close contact with my family and tribal members. This world is getting smaller and smaller. The truth be known Robert, my car broke down and has taken most of my savings to fix my car. The money that I was suppose to come home to Ketchikan this past summer. Chattanooga is about 3,000 miles away and costs a lot to fly and I can imagine for some people that Chattanooga isn't far enough away from Ketchikan, Alaska for them.

In closing, Consolidation costs at the end will be a waste of your tax money. Consolidation won't get the majority vote in the Borough. Why would Borough residents vote for consolidation that won't help them one bit? Police and Fire protection, water and sewer, public schools or library... borough resident won't get those services in a million years. What about the people that live in Meyers Chuck or Hyder? Bottom line that a few people are pushing consolidation is " old growth timber". The termite people want to open up more land to cut timber, think about that for awhile.
