Wanted: A thoughtful person, who looks at issues from all points of view and then comes up with solutions which address the long term needs of our community. This is the type of person we need serving in our local, state and national governments. Just such a person has stepped forward to run for a seat on the borough assembly.

Mike Sallee is a long time Ketchikan resident who understands the issues better than most. I was very impressed with the time and effort Mike gave to each and every issue he dealt with when he served on the assembly previously. His experience as a small business owner/operator gives him insight into the problems business owners face daily. The fifty plus years he has lived in Ketchkan gives him the experience and knowledge about major issues in our community. For me the most important asset Mike brings to the assembly is the fact that he believes solutions which serve the community's long-term interests are the best answers to each issue we face.

Quick fixes to complex problems almost always end up costing us more in the long term. The fiasco with the Gateway Forest Products veneer mill is only one example where our community would have been much better off listening to Mike Sallee's opinion as opposed to those on the borough assembly who told us the veneer mill was THE ANSWER to jobs and a better economy for Ketchikan.

I will vote for Mike Sallee for borough assembly and hope many more will make this thoughtful choice.
