First "SchoenBon" Day
By Karen Ramsey

September 09, 2005
Friday

Give an extra big hug soon to any Schoenbar 7th or 8th grader that you know, please won't you? I am so proud of the 8th graders in particular, because I saw them at their best on their first day of the 2005-2006 school year in the former Bon Marche store at the mall (because their school STILL is not ready!!). I am in awe at how adaptable people can be, when put to the test. It's not a terrible hurricane, but the strength, patience, respect, and optimism I witnessed this afternoon at Schoenbar amazed me. Congratulations to the students, teachers, administrators, those who moved tons of furniture, and the district for making the best out of a bad situation. What a remarkable display of fortitude!
