Opposing Opinions Misread
by Walter Bolling

Unfortunately, the Arts Council and its supporters on the land swap issue have misread opposing opinions. We who opposed the land swap were never opposed to the arts community or to an arts center. We evidently failed to impress the Arts Council and its supporters of our sincerity.

By and large, those in opposition to the swap have continually voiced support for and recognized the positive contribution artisans provide. If I may speak for some who are in opposition, we were opposed to the swap because we were and are convinced it is not in the public interest, and we were and are convinced that an arts center, worthy though it is, does not have to be on that particular lot. We think there are other options and locations. We believe a center would be a positive contribution to our community. Perhaps the Arts Council can formulate a plan that includes all of us in finding a suitable location.
