Labor Day
by Frank H. Murkowski

September 06, 2004
Monday

Labor Day is the last major holiday of the summer season and for many Alaskans it is an opportunity to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends.

The first Monday in September should be much more than simply a day away from work. It is a day set aside to honor the contributions of men and women in Alaska who work hard to provide for their families. Through this hard work, they strengthen the economic fiber of our country and this great state.

I hope you will take a brief moment during this Labor Day to reflect on how our lives have been enriched by the values of education, hard work, and the blessings of opportunity for which we are rightfully grateful.

Sincerely yours,

Frank H. Murkowski
Governor of Alaska
